August 2021
There is no doubt that knee injuries are in most cases devastating and career changing for many athletes. When articular cartilage is injured it is thought to be the beginning of the end. But is this true? Are there any treatment options that can be symptom-modifying or even therapeutic. In this special issue of Aspetar journal we are focusing on the new development in treating cartilage injuries and preserving the joint, with special focus on surgical approaches and orthobiologics. The reader will have the chance to understand what is the current knowledge in the area of cartilage restoration and joint preservation, while treatment algorithms are presented in the best evidence supported way.
